Tomorrow the adventure in Ivano-Frankivsk begins! Together with my colleagues Patrick Delges (Centre Henri Pousseur) and Klaas Verpoest, I once again get to perform Stockhausen’s masterpiece for solo trombone, octophonic electronics, and immersive video. We’ll play this Friday at the Porto Franko festival in the Ukraine at a very unique location – the city’s Airport! How cool is that?!

In two weeks time, I’ll be headed back to the Ukraine to play Stockhausen’s masterpiece for solo trombone, “Signale zur Invasion.” The Porto Franko festival has graciously invited us, Patrick Delges (CHP), Klaas Verpoest and myself, to perform our integrative, immersive Signale & Oktophonie for Trombone, Electronics, and Video.

A couple of weeks ago, I had the chance to work with some fantastic people and amateur musicians. Matrix, Centre for New Music, in the context of the CoMA All-comers Festival, asked me to lead a reading session of contemporary music. They also offered me the chance to write about it on their blog, Hands-On Music. Here is the post.

This Sunday in Bruges marks the start of a series of really cool solo projects. Nadar Ensemble will kick off our 5-year residency at Concertgebouw Brugge with an invasion of the Brugeling’s homes and more specifically living rooms.
The program is aptly named: Homejacking.
The show starts at 3 pm throughout Bruges and gives the members of our ensemble a chance to shine as soloists and in duos. Personally, I get to play an “early” solo work (2007) by our artistic co-drector Stefan Prins: FITTINGinSIDE for trombone, electronics, mp3-players, and a guided walking tour. “How’s does that wrok?” one might ask. Well…
There are still a few tickets available, but the box officie only stays open until 2:30 pm on the 11th. So don’t be late!
Tickets, more info, and the full program are available via this link: https://www.concertgebouw.be/nl/event/detail/3110/HOMEJACKING?ajax
In the next several months, I will also play solo at the opening of Lunalia Festival in Mechelen, for Innuan in NYC, and in Ivano-Frankivsk (Ukraine) for the Open Port Festival.
Fun times!
Bernstein, Cage, Goethals, Prins, Stockhausen
