Premiere Real, so Real from Marc Vanrunxt

On the 21st of January the piece Real, so Real from Marc Vanrunxt premieres in the Concertgebouw Brugge. My part in this production was small and behind the scenes but I am very happy with the recording we produced for this project at studio/ChampdAction and wish Els Mondelaers and Simon Vander Beken the very best of luck with this project.

Spring 2015 will be an exciting couple months. Not only will I continue my work at Soldaat van Oranje and Chicago, Das Musical, but I will also have the opportunity to work with the 4 great Flemish modern music ensembles: Nadar, ChampdAction, Spectra Ensemble and Ictus.  In April, I will conduct Ictus for the first time doing the piece ‘Waterlines’ by Trapani and in May, I will fill in on the bass trombone at Spectra for a theatrical project in Kortrijk.

Nadar has quite the busy 2015 (RECHT, Doppelgänger Deluxe, Barcelona, and Donaueschingen, to name a few) and I will post more as each project arrives. My partnership with ChampdAction will be somewhat looser this year, but includes a workshop around IN C in February (partnered with Matrix) and a reading session at the Orpheus Institute in March.

If you would like to attend any of the shows here are the specifics:

January 23 and 24, RECHT, Frankfurt, Germany, Nadar Ensemble

January 28, Doppelgänger Deluxe, Antwerp, Belgium, Nadar Ensemble

February 13, RECHT, Ghent, Belgium, Nadar Ensemble

February 17, IN C Workshop, Zaventem, Belgium, Matrix/ChampdAction

March 13, ETE, etc, Barcelona, Spain, Nadar Ensemble

March 19 and 20, Reading Session, Ghent, Belgium, Orpheus Institute/ChampdAction

March 26 and 27, RECHT, Berlin, Germany, Nadar Ensemble

April 11, Waterlines, Lille, France, Ictus Ensemble

April 19, RECHT, Zagreb, Croatia, Nadar Ensemble

May 9, ETE, Ghent, Nadar Ensemble

May 9, Johansson, Kortrijk, Belgium, Spectra Ensemble

RECHT is in the papers.

FESTIVAL FRANKFURTER POSITIONEN 2015

Zwischen Welten

The announcement for the festival as listed above appeared in the German newspaper Frankfurter Rundschau this week.

The piece ‘RECHT’ and Nadar Ensemble were featured quite nicely:

We had a great time in Zürich!

Our concert at the Tage für Neue Musik in Zürich was a great succes. Full house, enthusiastic applause, and a fantastic closing show for this year’s festival. Bravo everybody!

Here is a cool picture, Rebecca Diependaele took during our rehearsal of Stefan Prins’s ‘Generation Kill.’

Screen Shot 2014-11-14 at 01.46.18

This Sunday, the ever adventurous Nadar Ensemble will be performing at the ‘Tage für Neue Musik’ in Zürich. As with previous projects with this great ensemble, I will not only be a musician – this time on Megaphone and Game Controller – I will also produce the concert.

Great program!

Ta Da! The newest trailer for RECHT!

I will be playing, amongst other things, Trombone and Tuba in this production. Check out the newest trailer:

Thursday evening we had our premiere of the fantastically dark musical ‘Chicago’ in Stuttgart, Germany. The reviews have been great. Here’s one of them:

‘So herrlich bitterböse’

This week I started rehearsals for the fabulous, vaudeville show about Murder, Mayhem, and Jazz set in 1920’s Chicago. The band is great and I am really looking forward to the run.
